I just had the same oil leak fixed on my Savage ('87, ~7000 miles). Was very happy with the work performed, and they did indeed 'goop' the heck out of that plug. I've put about 400 miles on since the fix, and no leak yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :-)
